Indian Cricket Fan Snaps Back At Virender Sehwag For Harsh Remark On Sri Lankan Players

December 04, 2017

An indian cricket fan had snapped back at former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag for making a harsh remark on Sri Lankan players.

As Sri Lankan players complained of breathing difficulties due to air pollution, the former Indian opener, who was commenting on a local channel, had said the Sri Lankans were "hiding their face behind the mask because of their performance."

"Heard Sehwag say 'Sri Lanka cricketers are hiding their face behind the mask because their performance and not due to pollution'. Well, some decency must be maintained during commentary I believe and Ranji Trophy matches have been affected by smog earlier," Paulami Chakraborti, an Indian cricket fan, hit back at Sehwag, on Twitter.

"My point is, one must understand the difference between joke and insult. They are international cricketers. Sehwag may be a big figure and I am not denying his achievements but he is far from being humble and unbiased as a commentator," she said.

This was not the first time, Cricket was interrupted due to air pollution in Delhi.

The first day of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 fifth round clash between Gujarat and Bengal was abandoned without play as settlements of smog hovered around the venue.
