Former UNP Parliamentarian Joseph Michael Perara has been admitted to hospital due to cardiac arrest, sources close to the party said. 

The former Parliamentarian had fallen ill during a heated argument while finalising the UNP nominations lists for the Gampaha district. 

Party sources said Perera was unhappy with certain decisions made by the party seniors with regard to nomination papers in the district. 

Perera got into a heated argument recently during a UNP youth event in Ja-ela, organised by Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardena.
