Sri Lankan ODI Team To Get A New Captain Again: This Time It's Dinesh Chandimal

December 25, 2017

Sri Lanka Cricket Selections Committee now considering the appointment of Dinesh Chandimal as the captain of the ODI team, Asian Mirror learns.

Chandimal, as the Test captain, has got satisfactory results during the last two Test series against Pakistan and India. Having whitewashed Pakistan in a bilateral Test series in the Middle East, Sri Lanka managed to draw two out of three matches against India.

They also added that Thisara Perera might remain as the captain of the T20 team.

Chandimal, however, does not have a certain place in the national ODI team. The middle order batsman was overlooked for the ODI series against India.

Sri Lanka has already had five captains for its ODI team this year. Thisara Perera, who also does not have a permanent place in the ODI side, captained the team during the last ODI series against India.

The moves comes soon after the appointment of the new coach of the Sri Lankan national cricket team, Chandika Hathurusinghe.
