SLFP, JO And JVP Demand Convention Of Parliament To Debate Bond Commission Report

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), the Joint Opposition and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna have requested to convene Parliament urgently to discuss the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Treasury Bonds issue.

UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera said the SLFP demanded a Parliamentary debate on the findings of the Commission. When contacted by Asian Mirror, a senior Cabinet minister representing the UNP said his party had no issues with debating the findings of the Bond Commission.

The JVP, yesterday, said President Maithripala Sirisena should table the Bond Commission in Parliament so that everyone could access it. JVP Leader Anura Kumafra Dissanayake said the report of the Presidential Commission on the bond issue should be a public document.

In his speech yesterday, President Sirisena said he was willing to table the report in Parliament.
