Hashini Ratnayake, the wife of veteran singer Victor Ratnayake has been arrested by Police over alleged fraud. 

Police sources said she was wanted by Police in connection with an investigation over a fraud which involved Rs. 1 million worth jewelry which was in custody of a state bank. 

Hashini Ratnayake is believed to be an ex-worker of the bank. 

They further added that the wife of the singer surrendered to the Tangalle Police station this morning. 

It has now been revealed there was no Police inquiry into the fraud for over one and a half years after the complaint was lodged.
