Chamara Sampath Resigns From Post As Provincial Education Minister But Remains As Chief Minister

Uva Provincial Council Chief Minister Chamara Sampath Dassanayake has announced his resignation from the post of the Provincial Education Minister.

However, Dassanayake will remain as the Provincial Chief Minister.

This comes in the wake of Minister Susil Premajayantha announcing that the party will launch an internal investigation into an incident involving the Chief Minister. It was alleged that the Principal of the Badulla Tamil School was forced to kneel down before the Uva Provincial Council Chief Minister Chamara Sampath Dassanayake.

Dassanayake has said he will stay away from the office of Provincial Chief Minister until the conclusion of the investigation.
