Thailand To Support SL Agriculture Sector: Key Areas Include Post-Harvest Technology And Artificial Rainfall

The government of Thailand says it will assist the development of Sri Lanka's agriculture sector through several new programmes.

Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka Chulamanee Chartsuwan made this assurance when she met  President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s Official Residence, yesterday (21).

One of these new programmes will be on using the modern technology for the agricultural sector, including the introduction of Post Harvest Technology and using artificial rainfall.

The Ambassador also said this would be under under instructions of the King of Thailand, as a way of strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.

The President visited Thailand in November, 2015 on an invitation extended by the Thai Government to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Later, President Sirisena made a four-day official visit to Thailand to attend the Asia Dialogue Cooperation Summit and one month later the President again visited the country to pay his last respects to the late King,  Bhumibol Adulyadej.
