Susil At Mahinda's Residence: Ranjan At President's House: Last Ditch Attempts To Break Political Deadlock

February 16, 2018

UPFA National Organizer Minister Susil Premajayantha visited the residence of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, a short while ago.

It is believed that the discussion between the former President and Premajayantha is aimed at reaching a final agreement on drawing the Joint Opposition's support for a UPFA government.

Rajapaksa is the de facto leader of the Joint Opposition group in Parliament.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake is currently holding a discussion with President Maithripala Sirsena at the latter's residence in Colombo.

Ramanayake's discussion is a last ditch attempt to bring the UNP and the SLFP on the same page about the continuity of the current government protecting the January 08 mandate.

Although the President was scheduled to make a special statement to media this morning on the future of the government, it was cancelled at the last minute due to the current uncertainty.
