Tense Situation In Thambuttegama: Protesting Farmers Hurl Stones At Police Stations: 40 Arrested

A tense situation occurred in Thambuttegama, during a protest, a short while ago. 

The protest was carried out by farmers demanding solutions to their problems. 

The Police used teargas and water-cannons to disperse the protesters, our sources from the said. 

They said the tense situation started when the protesters hurled stones at the Police station. 

The Police subsequently arrested 40 people for behaving in an unruly manner during the protest. 

Four policeman have been hospitalized for treatment following the brawl.
