Depot Worker Who Did Not Praise Politician During Funeral Speech Transferred

An influential minister of the North Central Province has demanded the Kakirawa Bus Depot to transfer an employee who allegedly did not praise the Minister during a funeral speech.

It was alleged that the employee of the Kakirawa Bus Depot was requested by the Minister to praise him while delivering a speech at a funeral gathering. The incident had taken place during the funeral of Dharma Keerthi Sri Walaswawe Anomadassi thero.

However the employee had not followed the politician’s instructions and had said during the funeral speech that the deceased monk never went behind politicians. Following the speech the transport authorities had come under severe pressure to take action against the employee who did not praise the politician in his speech.

As a result, the Depot worker had been transferred to another place with immediate effect.

It was later reported that Education Services Minister Duminda Dissanayake intervened in the matter and rescued the Depot worker from transport authority.

 North Central Province Chief Minister S M Ranjith Samarakoon, Special Projects Minister S M Chandrasena, Education Services Minister Duminda Dissanayake and Deputy Minister of rehabilitation and Prison Affairs S C Muthukumarana were among the Ministers who attended the funeral.
