President Says New Cabinet Will Meet Next Week: Says Political Parties Have Great Responsibility To Nominate 'Right People'

Commenting on the widespread speculation on a Cabinet reshuffle, President Maithripala Sirisena said a 'new Cabinet' will meet next week at the Presidential Secretariat. 

In an interview with BBC Sandeshaya, Sirisena said the reshuffle would be akin to the appointment of a new Cabinet. 

When asked whether he would give appointment to the ministers who faced allegations, the President did not give a direct answer. 

"I will deal with such matters when I go to Sri Lanka," the President said. 

He also said there was a  responsibility for political parties to nominate suitable members for thee Cabinet. 

"The Cabinet ministers should be acceptable to the country as well as to the international community, I will ensure that the right people are appointed to the Cabinet," he added.
