UNP Parliamentarian Mujiber Rahuman said the UNP can form a government on its own at any moment. 

Addressing a press conference in Colombo today, the MP said that was the intention of the UNP parliamentary group all along. 

"The President and the Prime Minister were keen on forming a national government. So we allowed that to happen," he said. 

The MP also added that the journey of the unity government had come to an end. 

"We can form a government without the support of the SLFP," he added. 

He also stated that the post of Deputy Speaker in Parliament was currently vacant with Thilanga Sumathipala joining the opposition.
