Sri Lanka Lifts Ban On Glyphosate For Tea And Rubber: Cabinet To Formally Make Decision Next Week

The Sri Lankan government has decided to lift the ban on glyphosate for tea and rubber plantations, Plantation Minister Navin Dissanayake said. 

He also added that President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had arrived at an initial agreement on the matter. 

The Minister said the Cabinet was likely to approve it officially next week. 

The government issued a gazette notification previously banning imports and use of Glyphosate are banned under the Import and Export (Control) Act, No. 01 of 1969.
