Ruwan W Committee Recommends New Leadership To UNP: Suggests To Appoint Party Officials Through Election [See Report]

The committee headed by Ruwan Wijewardena appointed to look into internal reforms of the UNP has recommended a new leadership for the United National Party.

In a report suggesting drastic changes to the party, the committee has recommended to elect people to all key positions of the party through election.

All Working Committee members and Parliamentary group members must be eligible to cast their votes to elect party officials, the report also added.

The report also highlights the fact that the UNP has lost its momentum among the Sinhala-Buddhist voters of the country. Therefore, the committee suggests drastic reforms to attract Sinhala-Buddhist voters to the UNP.

It also recommends the appointment of several Assistant Leaders while assigning more powers and responsibilities to the Deputy Leader of the party.
