President Vows To Use Nuclear Weapons On Bribe-takers: Says He Will "Irradiate" Bribery And Corruption

President Maithripala Sirisena has vowed to "irradiate" bribery and corruption in the government sector, a statement issued by the President's Media Unit said. 

According to the English version of the press statement issued by the President's Media Unit, Sirisena has decided to use 'nuclear weapons' on bribe takers in the Sri Lankan state sector.

Addressing a function at the Polonnaruwa yesterday, the President had said strong action would be taken against those responsible for bribery and corruption. 

This comes a few days after the arrest of the President's Chief of Staff while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20 million from an indian businessman. 

The President, in his speech, said he acted impartially to curb bribery, corruption and abuse of public property, over the past three years.

He had also said the Presidential Commission on SriLankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka would also reveal "important information" to the public in the near future.
