Human Rights Commission To Hold Three Day Probe Into Racially Motivated Violence In Kandy: Dr. Udugama To Head Inquiry

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka will hold a three-day inquiry into the racially motivated violence in the Kandy District in March, its member Ambika Sathkunanathan said. 

In a tweet, she said the inquiry will start on May 09 and continue till May 12. 

The probe will be led by the Commission's Chairperson Dr. Deepika Udugama. 

The racially motivated violence claimed two lives in the Kandy district and left many displaced. 

Several Sinhala-Buddhist extremist groups, including Mahasohon Balakaya, were accused of instigating violence.
