Saman Gamage, a journalist attached to the Divaina newspaper, was arrested by the CID last night when he failed to appear before court. 

The journalist was summoned before the Gampaha Magistrate over an article he wrote about a matter involving the assault on Upali Tennakoon, the former Editor of Divaina and Rivira newspapers. 

He was first asked to give a statement to the CID, but he failed to comply with the request. Then he was asked to appear before the Gampaha Magistrate, Police sources added. 

They said Gamage had written an article in the Sinhala language justifying and defending the conducts of the suspects who were arrested over the assault.
