Passengers Asked To Arrive At Airport Three Hours Prior To Departure Due To Trade Union Action

Passengers using the Katunaike Bandaranaike International Airport have been requested to come to the Airport 3 hours prior to the departure to avoid delays caused by the work to rule campaign by Immigration officers.

Immigration officers started a work to rule campaign yesterday demanding better recognition for their service.

They said the campaign would be a "silent protest" against authorities who turn a blind eye to their grievances.

"SriLankan Airlines wish to inform all passengers, to arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport three hours prior to the departure time effective today, 17th May 2018, 12.00pm onwards until further notice," the national carrier said, in a statement, a short while ago.

"This is to minimize delays that may arise due to ‘work to rule’ trade union action carried out by the Sri Lanka Immigration and Emigration Officer’s Association," it also added.
