The SLFP has decided to nominate Parliamentarian Angajan Ramanathan's name for the post of Deputy Speaker, informed party sources said. 

The position is currently held by Thilnaga Sumathipala who has joined the opposition with a group of 16 other MPs. 

Ramanathan, a national list MP of the party, is a politician based in Jaffna. 

The matter has been discussed at the Central Committee meeting of the party yesterday. 

Meanwhile, another group of SLFP members have suggested Dr. Sudharshini Fernandopulle's name for the post of Deputy Speaker.
