Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has signed Special Provisions Bill absorbing SAITM students to the General Sir Kotelawala Defence University. 

With the Speaker signing the bill, the legislation passed in Parliament last week will come into effect.

The bill was presented to Parliament on June 8 by the Minister of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs Wijayadasa Rajapaksha. 

The bill was passed in Parliament without a vote.
