Wiggy Bans State Officers In Northern Province From Giving Information To Army Without Prior Consultation

Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran has directed all state officers in the province to refrain from giving information to the Army without consulting the Chief Minister.

Addressing an event in Killinochchchi yesterday, the Chief Minister said yesterday that the state officers in the province could inform the Army that the Chief Minister had imposed an order barring provision of information.

"The Central government has one rule and the Provincial Council has another rule. In addition, the Governor also has his own system of governance. It is the people who are inconvenienced by these multiple layers of governance'" he said.

"That is why," the Chief Minister explained, "we demand autonomy for provinces."
