Three policemen attached to the Ingiriya Police station have been interdicted for assaulting a suspect while in Police custody. 

The suspension has been done following a directive from IGP Pujith Jayasundara 

The three policemen are currently in remand over the incident. 

It has been revealed that the policemen have carried out the assault under the influence of alcohol. 

Further investigations into the incident are underway.
