PM Says Plans To Develop Tourism Sector Are Working:" We Can Ensure Better Paying Jobs For Sri Lankans"

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the government's plans to develop the tourism sector were working.

The Prime Minister made this remark while addressing the opening ceremony of the Le Grand Hotel in Galle.

"We are attracting investment into high quality hotels and resorts so that we can ensure better paying jobs for Sri Lankans and continue to build on what we have already achieved," the Prime Minister said, addressing the gathering.

Meanwhile, addressing the launch of the Tourist-friendly Tuks on Monday, the Prime Minister said tourism would be a key area for the government to generate employment.

The Prime Minister also encouraged people to reap benefits of the booming tourism industry by investing in it.

"If you can give a room of our own house on short-term rent, it will generate additional income and employment," the Prime Minister said.
