Ministry of Finance and Media said import duty on vehicles less than 1,000cc(fuel) increased up to Rs 1.5 Million from today. 

In addition, import duty on Hybrid vehicles less than 1,000cc will also be increased up to Rs 1.25 Million.

This comes as part of a series of tax revisions introduced by the government, under the watch of Finance and Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera.

Ministry sources said the Finance Minister had decided to increase prices as vehicle imports to Sri Lanka were on the rise in the recent past.

Following the move, vehicle importers said prices of motor vehicles less than 1000cc would be increased by Rs.100000 and hybrid cars (less than 1000cc) by Rs.400000.
