Salaries Of Sri Lankan MPs Likely To Go Up By 215%: Proposal Presented To Speaker By Lawmakers

Salaries of MPs and Ministers are likely to be increased by 215%. 

The proposal has been presented to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya by lawmakers, Asian Mirror learns.

The logic behind the salary hike is to place MPs on the same salary scale with judges. 

The matter has already been discussed at the party leaders meeting, headed  by Leaders of the House Lakshman Kiriella. 

JVP Parliamentary group leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, SLFP Vice Chairman Nimal Siripala de Silva, JO MP Dinesh Gunawardena and TNA's M.A. Sumanthiran had been present at the party leaders meeting when the matter was discussed.
