Questions Over Domestic Cricket Selections: Mahela Says "Very Tough" To Understand Policy Behind Leaving Some Senior Players Out

Serious questions have been raised on Sri Lanka's local cricket selections as several experienced T20 players have been left out of the provincial T20 tournament commencing in a few weeks.

Nuwan Kulasekera, Chamara Kapugedara, Seekkuge Prasanna and Dilshan Munaweera have been overlooked when selecting teams.

The four teams playing in the tournament are led by Dinesh Chandimal, Thisara Perera, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal.

A total of 84 players, including some promising Under 19 players, have been selected for the league.

Commenting on the move, former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardena said it was "very tough" to understand the policy behind these selections.

"That's why you need provincial selectors on a different structure," Jayawardena tweeted.
