Sarath Fonseka Says He Is Ready To Become Presidential Candidate In 2020 If Party Offers Him Candidacy

Former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said he would contest the Presidential election if the party decided to offer him candidacy.

Fonseka, now a Minister of the government, said the final decision on the matter should be made by the party.

He said he was ready to take up that challenge on behalf of the country and its people.

Fonseka contested the Presidential election in 2010 and lost it by a resounding margin.

However, the former Army Commander also added that he would support any decision made by his party on the next Presidential election.
