Modi Meets MR And Namal In New Delhi: Second Meeting After MR Lost Presidency

September 12, 2018

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, a short while ago.

Rajapaksa is currently in New Delhi on an invitation of Dr. Subramanian Swamy, an MP of the ruling BJP. The former President's visit to India was facilitated by the Virat Hindustan Sangam, led by Swamy.

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who is currently accompanying his father, too joined the meeting.

This was the second time when Modi met Rajapaksa after the latter fell out of power in January, 2015.

Modi first met Rajapaksa, in Colombo, during his official visit to Sri Lanka, last year.

When contacted by Asian Mirror, a Joint Opposition stalwart who is currently in India with Rajapaksa said he was not in a position to reveal what was discussed during the meeting between the Indian Prime Minister and the former Sri Lankan President.
