Law And Order Ministry Recommends National Police Commission To Interdict DIG Nalaka Silva With Immediate Effect

The Ministry of Law and order has recommended to the National Police Commission (NPC) to interdict DIG Nalaka Silva based on the progress of the ongoing investigation against him.

The DIG is currently under investigation for attempting to plot President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The Minister previously requested the NPC to send DIG Nalaka Silva on compulsory leave to facilitate an independent probe into the alleged assassination attempt on President Maithripala Sirisena.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate has also imposed an overseas travel ban on Silva and the other individual involved in the case, Nalaka Kumara.

The Police started investigations into the TID DIG after Nalaka Kumara, an employ of the Presidential Secretariat, revealed an alleged plot to kill the President and former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
