Three Specialist Doctors Likely To Be Axed From J'Pura Hospital Board After Opposing Appointment Of Health Minister's Stooge

The Chairman of Sri Jayawardenapura Teaching Hospital, Dr. Athula Kahandaliyanage, has attempted to remove three specialist doctors - namely Chairman of Dr Kanishka Indraratne, Dr Madhava Karunaratne and Dr Prabhath Ambawatte -  from the hospital board for opposing a questionable appointment made by Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne.

The arbitrary attempt has been made after the three doctors stood against the appointment of Dr. Susitha Senaratne, a close associate of the minister, to the hospital.

Kahandaliyanage had informed the three doctors that they might be removed from the board as per directives from the Health Minister.

The Chairman has also attempted to appoint three stooges of the minister to the hospital replacing the special doctors who have been axed from the board.

The three doctors had reportedly opposed the Minister's associate on the basis that the latter had no academic or professional qualifications to occupy the position.
