Protesting Tuk Tuk drivers in Colombo today assaulted several Cab drivers working for Uber and PickMe and threatened the passengers riding in their vehicles.

The incidents took place near the Green Path area, Colombo 07.

Eyewitnesses told Asian Mirror that protesting Tuk Tuk drivers threatened the Cab drivers and snatched their mobile devices.

"Vehicles are being forcibly stopped. I am in a PickMe right now. A man just stopped the car, jumped in, threatened the driver and me and took the driver's app," a passenger who used a taxi-hailing App posted on Facebook this morning, explaining her ordeal.

The Tuk Tuk drivers protested against taxi-hailing apps today saying they had posed severe challenges to the Tuk Tuk drivers operating in the Colombo city.

They also surrounded the Uber office, in Kollupitiya, and assaulted an employee, in the presence of the Police.
