Political Parties To Boycott President Sirisena's Meeting To Protest His Letter To Speaker

November 15, 2018

Political party leaders supporting the No Confidence Motion against former President Mahinsa Rajapaksa have decided to boycott the meeting meeting with President Maithripala Sirisena this morning.

The President convened a meeting for all political parties supporting the motion to discuss the current political situation.

Speaking to media this morning, UNP MP Rajitha Senaratne said no party leader would attend President Sirisena's meeting this morning.

The political parties have arrived at the decision following President Sirisena's letter to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya last night dismissing the latter's formal letter explaining yesterday's parliamentary proceedings.

However, it is also learnt that Sirisena has called for another meeting with leaders and representatives of minority political parties in Parliament.
