Admiral Ravi Wijegunaratne Avoids Giving Statement To CID Over Abductions Case: Consults AG's Dept Official On Investigation

Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravi Wijegunaratne did not appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to give a statement about the abductions and killings of 11 youth .

This was the second time the Wijegunaratne, the senior-most serving military officer in Sri Lanka, avoided giving statements to the CID over the same investigation. 

It is learnt that Wijegunaratne has held a consultation with officials from the Attorney Generals Department over the case. 

Sources close to him said the Chief of Defence Staff would appear before court and make a statement. 

Wijrgunaratne is accused of aiding Chandana Hettiarachchi alias Navy Sampath, the main suspect in the case, to flee the country avoiding police arrest.
