November 30, 2018

President Maithripala Sirisena, at a meeting with TNA members at the Presidential Secretariat, admitted that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa did not have a majority in Parliament.

He had also requested the TNA MPs to bring another no-confidence motion against Rajapaksa on the December 05 and had promised to accept the results of its vote.

The TNA MPs, during the meeting, had informed Sirisena that they would support any member suggested by the UNP as the Prime Ministerial candidate.

Fourteen MPs representing the Tamil National Alliance met Sirisena this evening at the Presidential Secretariat to find a solution to the current political crisis.

After the meeting with the TNA, Sirisena is expected to meet UNP Parliamentarians.
