Champika Ranawaka Says Resolving Current Political Crisis Is Five-Minute Job For Mahinda Rajapaksa

December 03, 2018

Jathika Hela Urumaya Leader Patali Champika Ranawaka today said resolving the current political crisis is a five-minute job for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

"Mahinda Rajapaksa need not keep on issuing statements and asking for General Elections to resolve this crisis, which they themselves created. Just resign your Illegitimate Premiership! A five minute job!" Ranawaka tweeted, a short while ago.

The UNP stated it was Rajapaksa who was responsible for the current political crisis.

Issuing a special statement yesterday, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said the country needed a Parliamentary election to resolve the current political deadlock.

Rajapaksa said even if a government is defeated in Parliament, it has to continue in office until a new government is appointed by the King.
