UPFA MP Arundika Fernando Apologizes To Parliament For Occupying Speaker's Chair And Conducting Mock Parliamentary Session

UPFA MP Arundika Fernando apologized to Parliament yesterday for taking the Speaker's chair and conducting a mock parliamentary session in November.

Making a statement in Parliament, Fernando said he regretted his behavior.

The UPFA MP obstructed the Speaker's duties during the when a no-confidence against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was taken up in the House.

UPFA Parliamentarians disrupted the proceedings of the House by staging a protest against Speaker Karu Jayasuriya's conduct.

However, a parliamentary committee is currently conducting an inquiry into the clashes that broke out in the House.

Informed political sources said the committee would also conduct an investigation into Fernando's behavior.
