Ninth Year Of Prageeth Ekneligoda's Disappearance: Protest At Galle Face Green To Demand Justice For Disappeared And Murdered Journalists

A public protest is currently underway at Galle Face Green demanding justice for all journalists who were murdered, abducted and disappeared under the previous administration.

The protest falls on the same say that marks the 9th year of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda's disappearance.

The disappeared journalist's wife, Sandhya Ekneligoda, will lead the protest.

Ekneligoda, a journalist critical of the previous government, was 'disappeared' on January 24, 2010 - just two days before a crucial Presidential election.

Although the current government initiated inquiries into the disappearance, the investigations have been stalled as the Admy has refused to cooperate with the CID on the matter.

The UNP alleges that President Maithripala Sirisena is responsible for the delay in Ekneligoda's investigation.
