"No Forward March For Country If We Keep Festering Wounds Of Past:" Ranil Stresses The Need For Setting Up Of Truth Seeking Commission

"There will be no forward march for the country if we keep exposing the wounds of the past," Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said, addressing a development review meeting in Kilinochchi this morning. 

Wickremesinghe also added that the people should seek the truth about the past, forgive each other for mistakes and move forward. He added that the proposed Truth-Seeking Commission would pave way for reconciliation. 

At the meeting, Wickremesinghe also reviewed the progress of paying compensation for victims affected by the recent floods in the Northern province. 

Meanwhile, Minister Sagala Ratnayaka who was also present at the meeting tweeted, "Government proactively engaged with state officials to understand their issues and offered them solutions to proceed with development work without delay."

In addition to several Cabinet ministers of the government, a group of TNA MPs including M.A. Sumanthiran and D. Siddharthan also attended the meeting.
