Several UPFA MPs have been summoned to the Criminal Investigations Department over the clash that broke out in Parliament in November last year.

A committee, headed by Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasir, conducted a probe into the incident and presented a report to the Speaker.

According to reports, several UPFA MPs and two UNP MPs have been highlighted in the report for unruly behavior in Parliament.

Attacking Police personnel and MPs with chilli powder , sneaking in a knife into the Chamber, pouring water on the Speaker’s Chair, damaging the microphones on the Speaker’s table, hurling copies of the Constitution at MPs, exchanging fisticuffs, hurling abuses at the Chair and conducting mock sittings were some of the incidents investigated by the committee

The CID also began a parallel investigation into the incident which broke out at the height of the constitutional crisis last year.
