President Says He Will Send His Own Representatives To Geneva: Samarasinghe, Amunugama And Raghavan To Attend UNHRC Session As Sirisena's Reps

President Maithripala Sirisena said UPFA MPs Mahinda Samarasinghe, Dr. Sarah Amunugama and Northern Province Governor Dr. Suren Raghavan will attend the 40th season of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva as his own representatives.

Addressing a meeting with media heads this morning, President Sirisena said his representatives would make an appeal to the UNHRC to allow Sri Lanka to handle its own problems.

However, the government's official delegation to Geneva is currently led by Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative To Geneva A.L.A. Azeez.

It is still not entirely clear whether the President's representatives to Geneva will be a part of the government's official delegation.

It also remains unclear whether they will support the resolution which will be lead by the core group on promoting accountability and reconciliation in Sri Lanka.
