President Sirisena Bans National Thowheed Jamath And Jamiyyathul Millathu Ibrahim Under Emergency Regulations

The President's Media Division (PMD) said President Maithripala Sirisena had taken measures to ban the National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) and the Jamiyyathul Millathu Ibrahim (JMI) organizations in the wake of Easter Sunday explosions.

The two organizations are believed to be responsible for the series of explosions which claimed over 250 lives last Sunday.

The PMD, in a statement, said the two organizations would be banned under the emergency regulations enacted by the President.

With the ban, all properties registered under the two organizations will be banned and their accounts will be frozen.

It will also enable law enforcement authorities to arrest any member of the two members and those aiding and abetting them.
