Police Say Remains Of Suicide Bombers Buried Without Rituals Following Religious Leaders' Request: DNA Tests To Be Conducted In Future

The remains of suicide bombers who died in multiple explosions at Sainthamardu, Kalmunai, last week were buried without religious rituals, Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.

He said the religious leaders requested the Police to bury them without any rituals.

However, the Police Media Spokesman said the six children who died in the blasts were buried with Islamic religious rituals.

They were children of the suicide bombers who occupied the Sainthamardy safe house.

Meanwhile. Police sources also added that DNA tests would be conducted on suicide bombers who exploded themselves on Easter Sunday killing over 250 people.

Three family members Zaharan Hashim, the Shangri-la bomber and the mastermind of the attacks, currently remain in the Police custody.
