Three Individuals Arrested At Colombo Central Mail Exchange Yesterday With 600 Letters Currently Interrogated By Colombo Crimes Division

Three individuals who were arrested yesterday at the Colombo Central Mail Exchange are currently being questioned by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD).

They were arrested last night with 600 letters defaming President Maithripala Sirisena and causing racial disharmony.

The three persons are believed to be close associates of a senior Cabinet minister representing the Kandy district. They are also employed at institutions coming under the same minister.

Police said the postal department officials examined their package as it looked suspicious.

Upon finding the defamatory letters, the officials contacted the Fort Police Station which subsequently arrested the three individuals.
