Former TNA Parliamentarian P. Piyasena has been sentenced to 4 years in prison and a fine of Rs. 5.4 million for misusing a state vehicle. 

The former Parliamentarian was penalized for using a government vehicle for over a year after he ceased to be a Member of Parliamentarian. 

Piyasena lost his seat as an MP at the Parliamentary election in August 2015. 

Piyasena was arrested by Colombo Crime Division in July 2016 over the failure to hand over the vehicle.

Piyasena, the only Sinhala MP to represent the TNA in Parliament in recent history, was elected to the House from the Digamadulla District.
