Duminda Says There Must Be One Law For Everyone In SL: "All MPs Should Tender Public Apology Over Their Behavior After Easter Sunday Explosions

UPFA Parliamentarian Duminda Dissanayake said there must be one law in the country which all communities and ethnicities abide by.

Speaking in Parliament, Dissanayake said it was such systemic issues that had given rise to religious extremism in the country.

"For instance, for any other community, a person should be above 18 years old to get married. But this does not apply to the Muslim community," Dissanayake said.

He also added that all members of Parliament should tender a public apology for their petty behaviour in the wake of the Easter Sunday explosions which killed over 250.

"We were quite disappointed with the behaviour of all of our political parties in the wake of the terrorist attack on April 21," he added.

While commending the efforts of the military forces, Dissanayake requested the government not to weaken the country's intelligence agencies by making their affairs public.

"There must be secrecy involving the affairs of the intelligence agencies. The whole country does not need to know about the operations of intelligence agencies. I request the government to take this into serious considerations before commenting on certain operations carried out by intelligence agencies," he added.
