The discussions between the Sri Lanka Podujana Party (SLPP) and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) on forming a common alliance ended "positively" sources from both sides confirmed.

The two parties decided to meet again for another round of talks on May 30, they also added.

The fouth round of discussions between the two parties was held this morning at the Opposition Leader's Office in Colombo.

This was the first discussion between the two parties after the Easter Sunday Explosions wich claimed the lives of over 250.

Although the two parties have held four rounds of discussions so far, the talks are yet to see any significant outcome.

The discssuons suffered an unexpected setback when the SLFP decided to abstain from voting on the third reading of the budget in April.

Meanwhile, several key figures in the SLPP, including Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, have openly criticized President Maithripala Sirisena's conduct in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday explosions.
