Convenor Of Nawa Sinhale Movement Dan Priyasad Released On Bail: Mahasohon Balakaya Leader Amith Weerasinghe Remanded Till May 28

Convenor of the 'New Sinhale' national movement Dan Priyasad has been released on bail this evening.

He was arrested by the police yesterday for questioning after he staged a protest in the Wellampitiya area.

Meanwhile, Mahasohon Balakaya leader Amith Weerasinghe, who was arrested yesterday over communcal violence, has been remanded till May 28.

Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said 78 people have been arrested from the Northwestern province over communal violence.

A large number of suspects have also been arrested from the Minuwangoda area for damaging mosques and Muslim-owned properties.

Meanwhile, police curfew has been announced in the Northwestern province and the Gampaha police division to avoid to any violent incident.
