Colombo Commercial High Court Issues Interim Order Preventing Functioning Of The New Board Of Directors Appointed To Litro Gas Company

The Colombo Commercial High Court today issued an interim order today preventing the functioning of the newly-appointed board of directors to the Litro Gas company.

The new board of directors was appointed by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera and they assumed duties yesterday following a brief event attended by the Minister.

Minister Samaraweera's Coordinating Secretary, had informed the former Managing Director Muditha Peiris to vacate his post, as a new board of directors has been appointed by the Minister.

The Finance Minister had appointed Mohammed Farook as the new Managing Director of Litro Gas. The new directors appointed by the Minister are Jehan Wijeratne, Samantha Perera, Daya Ratnayake and Rathnasiri Perera.

However, former Managing Director Muditha Peiris prursued legal action against the Finance Minister's move saying the appointment of a new board of directors was 'illegal".
