Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today met Michèle Coninsx, Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate of the United Nations and her team for a special discussion, the Prime Minister's Office said.

The discussion centered around the preparation of a national counter terrorism strategy.

Sri Lanka will need necessary foreign technical assistance, and the Treasury will be asked to release funds in this regard, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement this evening.

Other members from the UN who were present were Masood Karimipour (UNODC), Hanaa Singer (UN Resident Coordinator), Leila Ezzarqui, Adria De Landri, and Gita Sabharwal
