Visibly Angry Sirisena Threatens Not To Hold Cabinet Meetings Again Unless PSC Probing Easter Sunday Attacks Suspended

President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday threatened not to hold Cabinet meetings again unless the Parliamentary Select Committee probing the Easter Sunday explosions is not suspended.

Deeply embarrassed by the revelations made before the PSC, President Sirisena hurriedly summoned an emergency Cabinet meeting last night to express his opposition to the proceedings.

The President also said discussing matters relating to the national security before a Parliamentary Select Committee the the presence of media has jeopardized the country's intelligence agencies.

The President also said he would not allow any serving member of the defence forces to testify before the PSC.

A visibly angry Sirisena has also told the Cabinet he will not attend any government ceremonies if the PSC continues to conduct its sessions.

Former Defence Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, IGP Pujith Jayasundara, National Intelligence Chief Sisira Mendis and former TID Director Nalaka Silva have already given evidence before the Commission.
